It is no coincidence that I do most of my writing in the winter months, when it’s cold outside and the evenings are dark. Possibly my favourite season, autumn is the time when the next novel starts to take shape. Each summer I stop publicising my latest book to work on the plot of the new one, when I can do much of my ‘plotting’ outdoors. But when the days shorten, I really concentrate on getting my thoughts on paper – or rather, into the laptop. Running from July to September this year, it was the first event of its kind to be held in Hawes. Shops, the library and even the doctors’ surgery took part, featuring favourite books in their windows. Visitors were able to tick off titles as they searched for books on the list.  I was delighted when the Funky Pheasant asked if they could feature my books in their window. So, what has happened since I received the proof copy of ‘Tracks in Dark’ in January? The  paperbacks finally arrived in February, looking as good as I knew they would, if not better. With  the publication date set for the end of March, plans were already under way for the launch  events with local independent bookshops.
